Risers

Septic risers. Pay once, save on every future service.

If your tank lids are buried 6 inches or more under landscaping, every future pump costs an extra $50-$200 just to dig. A pair of risers brings the lids to grade with bolt-down, gas-tight, child-safe covers. The install pays for itself in 1-3 service visits, and inspectors love them. We install during a pump or as a standalone job.

What do homeowners ask about Risers?

How tall do my risers need to be?

Risers should bring the lid to within 1-2 inches of grade — flush enough to mow over, high enough to keep surface water out of the tank. We measure depth at the job and stack riser sections to fit. Most installs need 6-18 inches of riser stack.

Will risers stick up and look ugly?

No, when sized correctly. The lid sits flush or just above grade and can be set in mulch, low groundcover, or stepping-stone landscaping. We also offer green and tan lid colors to blend with most yards.

Are risers required by code?

Not retroactively, but SD County DEH requires risers on all new installs to grade. Existing properties with buried lids are encouraged but not forced to upgrade — though most real-estate inspections now flag buried lids as a maintenance recommendation.

Can I install risers myself?

Technically possible, but the gas-tight gasket between the riser and the tank is the part most DIY installs miss — and a bad seal causes settling, water intrusion, and odor. The labor savings rarely offset the risk. We do the install in 30-90 minutes per riser at a fair price.

Homeowners who hired us for this

Bought our place 4 years ago and never had the tank serviced. Tank Pro showed up on the day they said, took the time to measure sludge, walked me through what they found, and set us up for a clean schedule going forward. No upsell, no panic.

Melissa R. Septic Pumping · Escondido

Had wet patches on the lawn and three other companies tried to sell me a $20K replacement. Tank Pro diagnosed it carefully, jetted the field, retrofitted an effluent filter, and bought us 5+ years for a fraction of the price. Real diagnosis, honest call.

David K. Drain Field Repair · Alpine

Old steel tank had finally rusted through. They handled the county DEH permit, picked the right concrete tank for our access, and had it installed and inspected in 5 weeks total. Crew was clean, communication was clear, no surprise charges.
